How do I charge more as a hypnotherapist?

How do I charge more as a hypnotherapist?

The first step to charge more as a hypnotherapist is to improve your skills, even if you’ve been at this for a while.

You must start there first and foremost because your clients are depending on you, whether you charge a little or a lot.

There are too many well-meaning hypnotherapists who jump the gun and want to charge more right away before they have the necessary skills or client results to warrant price increases.

They don’t know how to work with more complex issues and haven’t worked with enough issues yet to fully support a client when things come forward in their session work.

But you don’t want to undercharge either, even if you’re new. There are many newer hypnotherapists who are charging as little as $100.00 for a session.

Or worse, there are experienced hypnotherapists who are charging these beginner prices!

How to charge more as a hypnotherapist

So even if you’re newer, you’ll still want to charge the industry average for your sessions as you learn and grow.

Here’s an idea of what to charge per session, based on your experience as a hypnotherapist:

Stage one: Brand new with a certification in hand

Hypnotherapy technique used: Direct suggestion

Session fee: $200.00

Stage two: Getting your sea legs. You’ve done lots of direct suggestion hypnosis sessions and you’re beginning to regress your clients to explore the root causes of their issues.

Or you’ve been certified in regression but you’re still new at it. You may be focusing on “feel-good” regression or you’re very formulaic with your regression techniques as you learn.

Hypnotherapy technique used: Regression

Session fee: $200.00 - $400.00

Stage three: You’ve got a solid grasp with your regression sessions. You’ve done lots of regression sessions with your clients for all the normal things:

  • Stop smoking

  • Weight loss

  • Relationship problems

  • Fears

  • Phobias

  • Self-esteem

  • Setting healthy boundaries

  • Communication

  • Career improvement

  • Life transitions

  • Other ordinary issues

  • Spiritual issues/desires

Hypnotherapy technique used: Regression or spiritual hypnosis like past life regressions and higher self-connections

Session fee: $400.00 - $500.00

Stage four: You’ve worked with the most challenging of client issues and you know how to move a client through, or help with things like:

  • Sexual (including rape), physical, emotional, or verbal abuse

  • Addictions

  • Being a victim of a crime, sometimes including the murder of a loved one.

  • PTSD and other traumas

  • Terminal illness

  • Loss of a loved one

  • Intractable situations like chronic illness

  • Panic attacks

  • Intrusive thoughts

  • Navigating no contact with abusive or toxic people or family

  • Unusual issues

  • Mental health challenges (suicidal ideation, depression, etc)

  • Deeper spiritual issues/problems

Note: It’s always important to adopt an interdisciplinary approach and have all the client’s support system in place, including therapists, and medical professionals.

Hypnotherapy technique used: Regression with the ability to help your clients process intense emotions and reframe deeply ingrained rigid beliefs.

Session fee: $500.00 - $1000.00

These are suggestions based on the level of experience the hypnotherapist has and the issues they’re successful (or comfortable) helping with.

There’s further opportunity in stages three and four.

You can create a system of support for your clients that help them achieve the result they want easier and faster.

And you can create premium offers that allow you to charge anywhere between $2500.00 to $25,000 depending on how the offers are structured and the length of time.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what to charge. But please, never charge less than $200.00 per session.

Our industry is long overdue for change, and the old outdated hypnotherapy business model needs to change to reflect the massive and life-changing transformation that hypnotherapists routinely provide their clients when all else has failed.
